Entry & Console Refresher

There's nothing like the threat of having a party at your house to make you work like crazy to get all of your projects you've been putting off completed!!  My middle guy is graduating soon, and we will have a house full of people here to celebrate with us.  I am working hard to check as much off of that list as I can.  I decided to start in our entry.  I wanted to make a few changes, and painting the console was not one of them.  However, this little guy got bored and decided to chew a corner of the table.
You can't get mad at that face, not even if you tried!  Love him!!

Here is what it looked like before........

Honestly, I'm glad he chewed on the table.  I painted the console to cover up where he chewed, and to brighten and lighten things up a bit.  It turned out great!

I started by painting the whole piece white.  Then, I decided not to stop there.
(Important tip-keep your phone in the floor with you.  Because when you start a project, someone always calls, or texts.  Also, have a little protein with you to keep your energy going. Did you spot the Almonds? hahaha)

I swiped on a little turquoise, a little gray, and glazed the whole thing with brown.

I like to use a Q-Tip to get the glaze down in the nooks and crannies.  I think it just adds a little more character.
I'm really happy with the depth all of the colors created.

Now the whole thing just stands out so much better in our entry.

I couldn't stop there.  I decided to recover the shade on my lamp too.  I had some fabric I picked up last time I was in Savannah, and added burlap trim, and a burlap flower to finish it off.  Much better!!
On the other side of the entry, I hung a coat rack that I purchased from Kirklands.  It adds a little bit of character to that side of the room.

I think this little project has made this room visitor ready!
Now, on to the next room on the list.  Stand by for lots of new projects.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!!
