Sometimes Life Happens

I have been a little bit absent from my blog lately.  But, life happens and my health became a priority. I wasn't going to write about this on my blog, in fact, I considered deleting my blog.  But with a few kind comments on older posts, and a local friend who is very encouraging, I decided to keep things going.

I also decided to write this post, because I have spent a lot of time reading and researching on the Internet about what I've been going through, and decided someone out there reading my blog may have good advice.

I decided to go to my Internal Med Doc for blood work due to the fact that I have a history of high cholesterol in my family.  Long story short, my very thorough doc noticed my Thyroid looked slightly large.  My ultrasound results showed two nodules with characteristics of cancer.  SERIOUSLY? I just came to check my cholesterol.  Surgery was scheduled, and I had a partial thyroidectomy.  I feel very blessed to say, I don't have cancer!!!! Hooray!!  I have an autoimmune disorder called Hashimoto's Thryoiditis.  I am so relieved, and I am slowly adjusting to life with my new diagnosis, and taking thyroid meds.

Here I am one week after surgery.

If any of you have Thyroid problems, I would love to hear how you are taking care of yourself, as I am new to this, and I am still learning.

To my local friend (you know who you are) thanks for your flattering words about my blog the other day. You kept me from hitting the delete button, and inspired me to get to work!

Since I'm starting to feel better, I am hoping to post some new projects, etc. to my very neglected blog.

Thank you for reading!

  1. Thank you for sharing your story. You have done a great service to your readers. Sometimes we neglect to have check-ups because we assume all is well. I'm so glad you were watching out for yourself.

    1. Thank You Ellie! I am a so glad I went. I had no idea how much the Thyroid controls in our body. Thanks for taking the time to leave such a kind comment!

I’d love to hear from you! Please leave me a comment!
